My first review on the year comes from Nature's Paradise. I received a box of Body Organic goodies from Nature's Paradise at the beginning of this month and I want to tell you all about them!
The first product I tried was the Fresh Pineapple Body Wash pictured above. The scent really is like cutting into a fresh pineapple and very refreshing! The pump foams it out for you, so there is no need to lather. I really like the scent and the only thing I was disappointed about was that the scent does not linger. Which I guess can be a good thing if you like to wear lotions or perfumes.
Next my family and I tried the Fresh Pineapple Hand Wash. The kids absolutely loved the way this soap foamed and spent more time washing their hands then I have ever seen! The scent lasts awhile with this hand wash and I really enjoyed smelling the pineapple! I also noticed that the hand wash did not dry my hands out at all.
The Fresh Pineapple Hand Cream was the only product that I was less than happy with. Dont get me wrong, it is extremely thick and moisturizing and it lasts forever, no need to reapply within the hour. The fresh pineapple scent is fantastic....until it turns into Bubble Tape. Do you remember Bubble Tape? I am not sure they sell it any longer. About 10 minutes after I applied this hand cream, my husband came into the bedroom and asked why the house smelled like bubble gum! It was not very easy going to sleep when I smelled like bubble tape and memories from the 80's kept drifting into mind! I am better off using this first thing in the morning!

This Coconut Body Cream is my favorite out of the bunch. It smells like mouth watering coconut and.....oh man does it moisturize! It is heavenly thick and creamy and I only needed one application for the whole day! Absolutely fabulous, the best body cream I have ever come across!

The Creamy Coconut Body Mist is a nice refreshing splash of scent. Guaranteed to lighten up the gloomiest of days! No fake sunscreen coconut smell here, just pure fresh cut coconut!
Last but not least the Creamy Coconut Hand Sanitizer is one of the safest and most moisturizing sanitizers on the market. No worries if your child accidentally gets a hold of this, only natural ingredients are used! I love the fine mist of the sprayer!

I learned: There are strict regulations on Organic products to ensure the integrity, There are not any regulations for Natural foods products. There are no guarantees when it comes to All Natural products. There are guarantees to Certified Organic products. These products are closely regulated and frequently inspected to ensure quality and integrity.
I learned that parabens can be absorbed through the skin (not what they thought before) and accumulate in breast tissue. Can you imagine the effect that could have on your body?!
Facebooked it. I'm sure you've seen it, and if not you know how to check my profile...I hope lol.

"The regulatory requirements governing the sale of cosmetics are not as stringent as those that apply to other FDA-regulated products... Since I have seen products say they are paraben-free I figured parabens were bad, but I didn't know there were so many kinds and what they did. It's scary to think this could interfere with our genes. It seems like the government really should step up and do something instead of allowing the "loopholes" as they put it.
I learned that the reason why companies use chemicals is because they are extremely inexpensive.
This fact is truly disturbing: A study by one of the founding members of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics revealed that one third of cosmetic products on the market contain chemicals that are linked to cancer. -- I started a while back trying to avoid dangerous chemicals in my skincare, these products would be incredible!

Here is something else though.
They do not use honey or beeswax because they believe in a real vegan product.
I learned some ways you can tell whether a product is truly certified is by The USDA Organic Seal and by looking on the back under the companies information and see whether they have a statement such as "Certified Organic by *****agency" The certifying Agency must ALWAYS be printed on the back according to regulations. So if a claiming product does not have a certifiers name, then this product has NOT been certified or inspected by the USDA.
I just hate that you can't seem to trust so many companies today - they are just out to sell you product, no matter what they have to say, and whether it's good for you or not!

I learned that Propylene Glycol (PG) & Butylene Glycol. These are petroleum plastics that easily penetrate the skin and can weaken protein and cellular structure. PG is a solvent so powerful it dissolves through a stainless steel tank in 48 hours so it has to be stored in plastic drums. The EPA considers PG so toxic that it requires workers to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles. However, Propylene Glycol is used in some products in concentrations of up to 20%. It is also the main ingredient in certain types of Antifreeze.it is in so many things.

This is what I learned-The USDA has very strict regulations for production, processing and record keeping. These regulations make it hard for companies to qualify for Certification. Since the regulations are very strict and regularly inspected, some companies have decided to skip the certification and label their products "Organic" or even "Certified Organic". Some ways you can tell whether a product is truly certified is by The USDA Organic Seal and by looking on the back under the companies information and see whether they have a statement such as "Certified Organic by *****agency" The certifying Agency must ALWAYS be printed on the back according to regulations. In their Q&A, I learned, "Yes, we do have natural, organic preservatives as well as antioxidants in all of our products to keep bacteria from forming. These ingredients are all listed in each of the products ingredient listing. Our organic preservatives keep the products stable for 1-2 years."
This is good because we need to know the shelf life & be sure that these wonderful organic products are stable & resistant to bacteria.
The company is presently giving a portion of their profits to Haiti relief Fund. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

Natural and Organic products cost double to triple the amount. Which is why Organic products are sold for more than the chemical based products. They sacrifice health and safety for profit.

I found out that their hand sanitizer helps in minimizing the amounts of bacteria and germs found on your hands from everyday usage. I didn't even know sanitizer could be organic, and the pineapple looks like it would smell yummy.

I learned that a big concern of many scientists is sodium lauryl sulfate, a detergent found in approximately 90% of commercial shampoos. It's also known as sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), and sodium laurel sulfate (SLS.) This chemical has been shown to damage protein formation in eye tissue in young animals, raising serious concerns about the possibility of ocular tissue malformation and blindness in infants and young children.
I found that to be very interesting.
With more than 70,000 chemicals in use in the United States and 2,000 new compounds being introduced every year, according to government figures, the average American is exposed to a cocktail of chemicals from various sources.

I learned that " Major loopholes in federal laws allow the $35 billion cosmetics industry to put unlimited amounts of chemicals into personal care products with no required testing, no monitoring of health effects, and inadequate labeling requirements.", thanks!

I found out the reason why companies use chemicals is because they are extremely inexpensive. These companies save money and profit by using synthetic chemicals instead of Organic ingredients.
