UV Skinz was started in 2005 by Rhonda Sparks after she lost her 32 year old (extremely young, my hubby will be 30 soon and I can not even imagine) husband to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Now Rhonda is dedicated to helping raise awareness about the potential dangers of the sun all over the nation.
I love the look and feel of this shirt, the one I received is the "Devin", it is silky smooth and has flat seams on the outside and inside so you do not have to worry about skin irritation. There is a fantastic "tagless" tag on the inside where you can write your child's name so it does not get taken home by someone else. I love this feature, there is never anywhere good to write on a tag, you end up covering up the size or wash instructions, or if it is a tagless then you have to write directly on the fabric and hope the permanent marker does not soak through.
Celtic, my son in the picture above, says that the shirt is very comfy and he feels like he is wearing a space shirt!!! He loves it, huge grins! He keeps telling everyone that the shirt is protecting his skin, which is exactly what it is doing!
UV Skinz outwear provides chemical free UPF 50+ (98%) Protection from the sun. The micro fiber blend it quick drying and chemical free. UV Skinz provides short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, hats, shorts, and zippered shirts. There is something for everyone from baby to daddy and mommy and many many different designs to choose from.
They do not, however, provide short sleeves for babies only long sleeve. Why? Because UV Skinz ' main mission is to "get kids covered!" One damaging sunburn as a child more than doubles the risk of developing skin cancer as an adult. They believe in keeping your baby's skin completely covered during their first years of life. And that is another reason why they make their clothing extremely breathable so that you and your baby are comforatble wearing their protection.
